Growing up underneath the tall, beautiful pines of East Texas, Rachel learned to admire nature at an early age.  She spent many hours exploring the woods on both foot and on horseback.  She has a degree in Cultural Anthropology and Museum Management. The study of the native cultures of North and South America fascinates her, so when she was introduced to pine needle basketry, a craft that has been practiced for centuries by the Native Americans, Rachel was hooked. She has now been coiling pine needle baskets for five years and enjoys it more than ever. Rachel is married and the proud mother of two girls. She and her family live "in the sticks", miles from any town and love it!
A little over a year ago, Rachel's work took her in a new direction: jewelry.  Her bracelets, necklaces and earrings have become very popular and provide the nature lover with a unique way to express their affinity for the natural.  Each piece is a unique work of art.

Rachel has exhibited at the Museum For East Texas Culture in Palestine, Texas and participates is numerous art shows and events.

Each piece of pine needle art is composed of pine needles collected in the beautiful East Texas forests.  Raffia is used to weave the coils together.  In some cases, walnut slices are used as center pieces or in other locations of the piece.  Each piece is unique in both design and shape.

CARE OF YOUR PINE NEEDLE ART
Keep out of direct sunlight and windows.  Each piece has been sprayed with a coat of Shellac.  You may want to re-spray the piece every few years or so.

New art pieces are added weekly.  Also, check back often for new photos of wildlife!
